Armored units in conventional warfare: Experiences from the Battle of 73 Easting

Abstract

The "Battle of 73 Easting" was a confrontation that took place during the 1st Persian Gulf War between armored forces of the US-led Coalition against part of the Tawakalna Division of the Iraqi Republican Guard. According to the experiences and the analysis carried out, it is possible to assess the importance of the exploration unit in an offensive action, to show the great impact that the technological factor has in operations and the relevance of the application of combat techniques in an agile way, bold and trained. It is emphasized that the concepts, principles and theory of war remain imperishable, highlighting the leadership of the commander as a factor of success in this combat.
